Body Composition Analysis
Body composition analysis is carried out with bioimpedence flow called as BIA. It is the process of electrical measurements with the help of electrodes in contact with hands and feet and the measurement of body water, soft tissue and fat. Through this test, your body’s fat and muscle balance can be controlled and how healthy your nutrition style is revealed. The purpose of the measurements is to see the results of how the diet or sport programs affect the body.
For example; muscle loss may occur in an unconscious diet and the person may not be aware of this negative situation because he/she did not have a body composition analysis. However, with the implementation of a balanced and healthy nutrition program together with a dietician, the person can reduce the percentage of the body fat in a healthy way and does not have any muscle loss.
To understand this, the dietician applies body composition analysis to the person in a regular way. Thus, by taking measurement into account, programs that could put people’s health at risk are implemented and it is possible to treat the undesired effects that can be seen in the person during the program’s continuity. If desired, the output of the results can be received and interpreted. It is also possible to save the results in the electronically. Thus, the controllability of the persons is provided, and the results are easily compared.
What Should Be Considered Before Body Composition Analysis to be performed?
- Body composition analysis can affect the conductivity of the body, because it is a bioelectrical measurement. So, there are situations that need to be considered before the measurement.
- The test should be done in the morning, on an empty stomach, if possible, at the same time as the previous test.
- If the measurement cannot be made in the morning, the person should not eat anything 2 hours before the process.
- 4 hours before the test, bath, sauna and active sports should not be performed.
- Alcohol should not be used 24 hours before.
- Measurement is not recommended for people with cardiac pacemaker.
- Measurement cannot be performed in the pregnant women.
- It is not recommended for people who have prosthesis in their body.
